In the context of the "pull request" discussion & Mellon roadmap item: For two copies of the same document (i.e. if they are forks), should we support some sort of a "full merge" operation, where all annotations get combined, de-duplicating if necessary?
The process can likely be simplified a bit by merging only annotations with a last_modified_at timestamp after the fork date.
