It looks like the formatting changes made in the python scripts in this commit are failing black's lint checks. I like the formatting changes but if we want this PR to go through we may need to forego the formatting changes.

@nandac: I made similar manual changes in a dozen other plugins yesterday. Once my time frees up again, I'll apply similar changes here.
