Figured out that "Running unix2dos on loader.txt" was indeed a clean fix, and done it.

Unfortunately that's insufficient. Depending on how git is configured locally, it can and will change line endings to your system default when the repo is cloned. The build script has to fix the line endings explicitly.

By the way, first full success here. I happened to have 3.5-inch drives and a suitable ribbon cable. But no 3.5-inch floppy is formatted for the CPC. Thanks to your "joke" which actually works, I now have one (and soon several) usable and reliable 3.5-inch floppies on the CPC. If you have other joke projects to write, please do. You made my day!
