Although Android 2.1 is pretty much deprecated by now, there are some devices stuck on it, e.g. the (rooted) versions of the Nook Simple Touch. XSDL xserver currently cannot be installed on these. It would be great if there'd be at least one version of the app that could be compiled backwards compatibly so as to be able to run on those older devices.

@gfkpth Put cyanogen mod on it or get a new tablet
Also I tested Xserver XSDL on Marshmallow and it works perfectly but has some corruption at the top when opening the keyboard
@SuicSoft There is no cyanogenmod for the nook simple touch unfortunately. And I do have another tablet, but the point was to try and get linux running on this nifty little device with an eink display. I've suspended my attempts for the the time being.
@pelya Thanks! Unfortunately it still wouldn't work (although it's been ages since I tried and forgot to answer then). Seems like Android 2.1 is just too old.
@gfkpth Almost every device has CM, not sure why yours doesn't
@gfkpth Maybe we can build a ROM from ASOP source code
