Is Pencil2d dead?
@Reaper10 I think so.
@chchwy worked hard at the beginning, but there wasn't any substantial help provided to him by other developers, just some help here and there, so I believe, just my opinion, he came to a conclusion that the big task for taking Pencil2D to the next level was too much for just one person. And as the time went by, he was left almost alone with the code
@Reaper10, @carlosgf , @chchwy, I don't want to see Pencil be abandoned so I will try to get involved on a more regular basis. I will try to do some bug fixing at least once a week and see how it goes. I'll keep you updated.
I found this Hi all Pencil2D fans. This is Matt, I’m back.
First of all, I have to apologize to you for not being so active in Pencil2D development in the past year. 2014 is a tough year for me, my work occupied nearly all my time and energies. And what is worse is to see a “Development ceased?” post on the forum ;(
After the rush has just finished, I can finally come back to my lovely Pencil and start to contribute.
I think the most important task for now is to release a stable version of Pencil2D. There are already a lot of new features in development branch, but it’s buggy, I know.
I will start browsing all bugs on Github issue tracker and try to fix them as soon as possible. You can report bugs you’ve found using issue tracker, it’s easier for us to follow and manage than post on forum.
Cheers.

if it's dead it sad to see it rises from the dead just to dead agein:(
I won't let Pencil2D dead (I wish I have 48hr a day). ;)
Thanks for providing more information. Pencil2D is looking for a more professional audio engine, I surveyed FMOD before, but not JackAudio, maybe JackAudio is a good choice. I will make a study of it, but it won't happen soon, there are some more urgent tasks before integrated a new audio engine, hope you will understand.
When jack audio is added Pencil2D may need a simple mixer.
BTW, here’s something I discovered while working on the AppImage sound fix: Since Pencil2D is a standard Qt application and Qt uses GStreamer on Linux, it is actually possible to use JACK by making sure the GStreamer JACK plugin is available and then running Pencil2D with the QT_GSTREAMER_PLAYBIN_AUDIOSINK
environment variable set to jackaudiosink
. Not particularly user-friendly of course, but at least it works. On Windows and macOS, however, Qt uses other multimedia backends AFAIK, so I don’t think there’s any way of having Pencil2D use JACK on those platforms right now.
It would be cool if pencil2d had Jack Audio Support someday. http://www.jackaudio.org/
