OpenOffice Calc (.ods) importer creating many empty columns #565

When importing an ODS spreadsheet with 90 rows, I ended up with a project which 
had 90 columns, 85 of which were completely empty.  Perhaps it was just a 
coincidence, but I suspect that columns and rows are getting confused 
somewhere.  Whatever the cause, it's tedious to deal with all the extra 
columns, so we should try to eliminate empty columns.
