Does mate have a panel applet for the system updater? #102

On Fedora 14, gnome2 had a panel applet for the system updater that periodically checked for update packages and showed an icon on the panel when packages had updates. I installed mate on Fedora 17, and I can't find the applet. Is it still there? If the applet isn't in mate, would it be hard to port from Fedora 14?

I think it's just an icon, regardless of desktop environment. Maybe you need to add/enable the daemon on the mate-session-properties.

If it is an gnome-applet, then need to be fixed to use mate-applet libs. using the renaming scripts is the cheap way but not the best way.
