Searching for tags #351

Note: possible link to feature request #294 but this may be a different problem.

I am working on Neatline version 2.2.1.

When I edit a project in "Neatline Editor" I can filter records by typing "tags: " in the Search window.

When I go to "Public view" on the same project I can not search for "tags: " with a similar result.

Further, when I go to Advanced search there is a field "Search By Tags" which does not give any results either.

Is this because the editor with its Search window is in Neatline and the search system is in Omeka (and thus really what was raised in feature request #294) or is it a different problem? If it is the former then the limitation should have been expressed clearer in the documentation: http://docs.neatline.org/style-tab-groups.html

Hey @oeide,

Yep, you're right, the issue here is that Neatline's tagging system is separate from Omeka's. This should be more explicitly documented. The reasons for this are mostly historical / technical - Neatline tags need to do some kind of unusual things (we use them at the "hooks" for applying batch style updates with the Neatline stylesheets). But, Omeka 2.x actually has some really nice built-in model mixins that would make it relatively easy (though not trivial) to merge Neatline records into the general Omeka tagging system.

I think this goes part and parcel with issues like #235, which has to do with exposing Neatline records to Omeka's search interface. For now, though, this isn't possible.
