I have encountered the same problem while trying to install peridot. Try installing the ~2.0 version of symfony/console with composer require --dev symfony/console:~2.0
before installing peridot if that's an option. The issue itself could be fixed by making peridot work with symfony/console:~3.0.
@avendiart I'll try updating the composer.json and tagging a new minor version
@brianium symfony/console: ~2.0|~3.0
should do the trick as long as it doesn't break anything.
