Enhancement: Option to change the resolution (aka original video mode) #153

Unlike the N64 emulator, I think WiiSX will really benefit from an option to
change the resolution to 240p (instead of only 480i or 480p). The reason is
because the Playstation have a lot of games that use 2D graphics and
pre-rendered scenes, and these games looks definitely better running at their
native resolution (240p) - mainly when using a SDTV.

Some emulators (like Snes9xGX and GenesisPlusGX) already have an option to
choose 240p (also called "original video mode").

The most common resolution on most game Playstation games is 320x240. Since the
Wii is capable of producing 640x240, it should look identical. But I also think
there should be an option to use 512x240 (the Wii can also support that), since
some PS1 games also uses 256x240.

So, I really hope you guys consider this option. Running games using the
original resolution is an excellent (and exclusive) feature of the Wii. Been
able to play PS1 games exactly how they look on the original hardware would be
amazing.

Ps: I'm not sure, but maybe the low-resolution video mode could also give a
speed boost.

Thanks.

I was about to open a ticket for enhancement suggestion about this very same
request as well. I just migrate to the Wii world and having emulators
displaying game resolutions in 240p is the most pure cream of corn.

Is that possible to add such feature for the future versions? Tantric added
this to NES and SNES emulators, and Genesis and HuGo have it as well.

If it is not possible or too complex for a medium priority task, maybe adding
just a FILTERING ON/OFF switch (no blurry pixels [aka bilinear interpolation])
will help a lot.

It's soooo weird having to play games like if I am needing glasses. Everything
so blurry. Also, I feel really sad of plying the great Konami Rebirth Series on
a forced bilinear fashion, and the same for Megaman9 and 10. Why, oh, why they
did that?

Regards,
Cospefogo.
