I think this is idea to split page by layers front and background. This is more 
usefull for djvu files then contrast feature, because most of scanned djvu 
files contain such layers. Usually them automaticaly separated by converter, 
and perfectly suits for e-ink displays, with no needing to play with 
contrast/remove watermark features..

the feature of splitting one landscape page into two portrait pages would be 
just great!
