What steps will reproduce the problem?
Try to connect to a computer with hostname using mDNS(multicast dns)
Possibly automatically discover computers using dns-sd

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Connect to a computer

What version of XBMC Remote are you using?
0.8.4-beta1

Which Android device are you using (and which ROM, if custom)?
evo/cyanogen

Which XBMC revision are you running and on which platform?
latest on linux, not at the machine so can't tell exactly. 

Please provide any additional information below.
Gmote does this very well and is open source.  Might be worth checking into how 
they do it.
