Improve composite plot label collision detection #87

The label collision detection and avoidance strategy for the composite plot year labels works well for horizontal and vertical label placement. It is, however, flawed for angled labels. The current method works ok when there are a limited number of collisions, but as the labels get more dense, collisions begin to happen.
