Hi Emma. Hopefully you will get a notification in your Atkins email that I have created this "issue" and assigned it to you.

See how on the front page in the text under "Testing Collaborative Development Tools for EIA" there are some brief instructions about editing the README file? Please follow these and add your own greeting under mine and Brigitte's.

Once you have either succeeded in this or need to ask for help, let me know either way by adding a new comment to this issue - you might need to go to the "Issues" page to do this, that's the exclamation mark icon on the right hand side.

Hi Pete

Hopefully the edit to read me and this notification have worked...?! Em

Perfecto!

OK so this "issue" system is I think a key part of the process. Issues can get raised individually, assigned to a specific person, a discussion undertaken where necessary, and then the issue can be closed once it has been addressed. Compare that to comments in a Word document and it's much more robust and auditable. It's kind of like a cross between Word comments and email, but the "tracking" aspects of it are more baked in than with email I think.

Note also that I have assigned this issue to a "milestone" (available through the "issues" screen) entitled "Say 'hello' and use issue function". So as each person completes this task we can track how far we are to reaching the milestone. I will now close this issue and hopefully that will show up as 25% complete as 1 out of the 4 issues assigned to it will be closed. (I haven't closed Brigitte's issue yet because she needs to respond to the correct issue; and Anthea hasn't yet signed up so I haven't created an issue for her yet)
