i agree with this, this would help to log all notifications
I see the idea, but given how much we bounce between apps to review and respond to a variety of events, I think I'd be tapping on that "show old" more often than not wanting to see them. Now that queued notifications for an app are cleared regardless of tapping in MN or just opening the related app, I find that the list self-prunes itself rather nicely. I find myself using "Clear Pending" less as a result.
I seem to recall a perhaps related request in the issues list about someone wanting to have time stamps on the notification list. Might that help to serve this as well? Unsure whether that request was about absolute or relative timestamps though... I think for this application I'd probably prefer the latter.
I tend to use notifiers a little differently. Many apps that have push notifications don't require me to respond to them. I'd like to not have to clear them just to get them off the lockscreen. And for those that I do respond to I don't always care to do so right away. I think I'm fine with all the notifications staying around, so long as the lock screen panel only shows the number of new notifications and doesn't appear if there are none.
Another solution would be to highlight only the new notifications when the notification list is brought up, or displaying their background in a different color while showing the old ones as well.
My main concern is really getting the notification off the lock screen when I've already read them. I'd hate to prune it every time I decide not to actually open their respective apps or have to see that I have 145 notifications I've already read.
I also think it'd be nice to have two ways of activiting the notification list-- one activator action would bring up the list only if there are new notifications. The other would always activate it. The reason I'd like this is so I can assign the first to task switcher, and the second to another action. This way, whenever I use the task switcher, I see the list only if I have pending notifications, and I can force the list to appear by another action at other times.
What think?
(Oh, timestamps wouldn't address this but I certainly wouldn't mind them implemented nicely!)
It would be nice if the notification list only showed new notifications since you last checked them, with a button to "Show Older Notifications". The notification display on the lockscreen should also only show new notifications, or not show up otherwise. This is pretty much the standard for most notification systems, works well, and requires the least maintenance. In my opinion one shouldn't have to manually clear notifications or manage them unless they really want to. For those who prefer the old method, maybe an option should be provided.
