I was thinking that when a notification is shown on the lockscreen or dashboard, you should be able to swipe just as you do to delete on the dashboard but, 3 options appear as; open, reply, and delete.
Open - takes you to the message app to reply
Reply - opens a quick reply box right on screen and your able to reply from there
Delete - gets rid of the notification, including badge (marks as read)
