http://static.datasciencetoolkit.org/dstk_0.50.box returns a 404.

Brendan-McWalters commented 9 years ago

None of the links work. Has no one mirrored them? Or have the original torrent file?

adamontherun commented 9 years ago

@Brendan-McWalters internet archive has it http://web.archive.org/web/20140210011412/http://static.datasciencetoolkit.org/dstk_0.50.box

Brendan-McWalters commented 9 years ago

@adamontherun internet archive only caches the first 2GB (http://archive.org/about/faqs.php#18)? Can't seem to grab the whole thing from there.

cr75 commented 9 years ago

@Brendan-McWalters

The torrent file is still available on archive.org here:

http://web.archive.org/web/20140210014937/http://static.datasciencetoolkit.org/dstk_0.50.torrent

This is the 0.50, not the 0.51 I've seen referenced elsewhere. I can't seem to locate any torrents or copies of the 0.51.

bradddd commented 8 years ago

A little late, but I have a copy of the dstk_0.51.box that I could upload if anyone needed it.

MichaelOhlrogge commented 8 years ago

That would be great if you could, I'd love that. Thank you!

cr75 commented 8 years ago

Agreed. Thanks Brad.

bradddd commented 8 years ago

I put it up on google drive: https://goo.gl/XPiaza

dstk_0.51.box md5: db9311a100227f0bc51abc0dd87cd601

Let me know if anyone has any issues downloading it.

Thanks Brad!

Thanks @bradddd for sharing.

I'm having trouble booting the VM though (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS):

user@machine:~/vagrant_boxes/dstk$ vagrant up
Bringing machine 'default' up with 'virtualbox' provider...
==> default: Clearing any previously set network interfaces...
==> default: Preparing network interfaces based on configuration...
    default: Adapter 1: nat
==> default: Forwarding ports...
    default: 80 => 8080 (adapter 1)
    default: 22 => 2222 (adapter 1)
==> default: Booting VM...
==> default: Waiting for machine to boot. This may take a few minutes...
The guest machine entered an invalid state while waiting for it
to boot. Valid states are 'starting, running'. The machine is in the
'poweroff' state. Please verify everything is configured
properly and try again.

If the provider you're using has a GUI that comes with it,
it is often helpful to open that and watch the machine, since the
GUI often has more helpful error messages than Vagrant can retrieve.
For example, if you're using VirtualBox, run `vagrant up` while the
VirtualBox GUI is open.

The primary issue for this error is that the provider you're using
is not properly configured. This is very rarely a Vagrant issue.

Did you encounter this? Any workarounds you suggest?

Is there a reason not to distribute this box via Vagrant itself, perhaps, through Atlas?

alours commented 8 years ago

A couple of things - 1) A huge thank you to bradddd for putting the image out there as I discovered this a little too late, and 2) for anyone interested, it was relatively painless to convert this and use it in a Hyper-V setup. You have to setup and use Vagrant and VirtualBox to extract the box. Then, instead of booting the server up in Vagrant, just open VirtualBox and use the media manager to copy and convert the .vmdk file to a .vhd file. Set up a new server in Hyper-V and use the converted disk. Boot it in Hyper-V and start geocoding (that's what I was originally trying to do) or whatever. This is a great pack of tools in one package.

I'm just glad I found this thread before it disappears forever...

why is this still broken?

ehartford commented 7 years ago

I'll try to mirror it.

dkincaid commented 7 years ago

This repository hasn't been updated for almost 3 years. I think it's safe to say it's dead.

well I am getting too many downloads, 280 gb last month, can't afford to keep it up. I'll leave it up for the rest of the month in case anyone wants to mirror it.

tgxn commented 7 years ago

How about we create a torrent file for this IMG file so the bandwidth can be shared?
