GEO Version question from ec2setup.txt #59

Pete,

I am trying to build my own dstk server using the ec2setup.txt instructions. I’m running Ubuntu 12.04 and have run into problems with configure – results below. It seems like there is something wrong with the TOPOLOGY support (or a version check issue??).

Is there some way to upgrade the GEOS version that I should use to continue? What will happen if I use the --without-topology switch? Do I need to go through the configure script an patch it? Any insight you can provide would be useful.

I tried to update the geo using this:

wget http://download.osgeo.org/geos/geos-3.3.8.tar.bz2 tar xjf geos-3.3.8.tar.bz2 cd geos-3.3.8 ./configure make sudo make install

It compiled OK and created the correct library version 3.3.8 in /usr/local/lib but configure still complains.

Any suggestions where to look next?
