Cleanup and unclutter old and unused files in repo

This PR has the objective of cleaning up old files cluttering git repository root.

Changes

• .gitignore: added custom config needed for petl
• replaced .gitignore with a python focused one
• remove appveyor left over after github actions migration
• remove discontinued travis-ci.org left over
• git: remove outdated eclipse ide config
• git: unclutter repo root dir
• git: rm old unused files
