I think that "welcomes contributions" text isn't something one wants to put in the discussion of a paper. (for one thing, imagine readers of the paper in 5 years)
Also LGTM! I am trying to think of more exotic coalescent situations. Ah: the coalescent within a known pedigree.

I'll add in something about known pedigrees. We'd be able to cite Nancy Chen's work here, I think. This is also a challenging problem, in the sense that dealing with pedigree formats is still rather hard, esp. for large pedigrees.

There's nothing in master that I can see, and no open PRs in reference to this?
