Hm, those lines actually have arrowheads on the end: github's SVG rendering isn't making those show up:
looks awesome @petrelharp -- I see the arrowheads on both versions. I wonder if rather than the diagonal arrows leading out of "tskit" node, a bulleted list of more specific applications in a slightly smaller font would be a more efficient use of space? Something like,
* visualization
---------- * compression
(workflow schematic) | ts kit | * genealogical analysis
---------- * population genetics
* phylogenetics
though I'm sure there are better choices of keywords (in the meeting, it sounded like @hyanwong maybe had some in mind?).
But I also think it looks great as-is.
This looks great @petrelharp! The only input I'd have is that the "left hand side" sort of implies that this is a closed system, but really these are the just things we (as a group) happen to work on that use tskit.
Would it be possible to add like things like Relate, ARGneedle (which do support tskit, to a degree) on the inference side and maybe fwdpy11, gspace, sleepy on the simulation side? Could just be a (Also, fwdpy11, gspace, sleepy...) just underneath the existing box, e.g.
Good points, both! (I was thinking about Relate etc already) I'll work on it.
couldn't find an ARGneedle logo, and: ... but will add anyhow
Current version:
here's a draft of the "workflow" diagram - I haven't put in things for the output yet, though? (or figured out a better label than "insights" for that one arrow =) This is the inkscape SVG; feel free to edit.
