What usually attracts people is pictures of faces. I'm not sure how to get all the contributors onto the poster without taking up too much space, but how's something like this for a silly idea. Not sure how much time it would take to get the formatting right, though:
I'll chime in -- Peter's unwell today so might not respond quickly.
"Exploring/iterating over trees" is swapped for "notable new features"
I'd be happy to tackle this one if we keep it in. I haven't stayed on top of these new features in the last year or so, so making this part of the poster would be a good way for me to learn. This is less of a cohesive 'theme' than the one it replaces, though -- is this a problem? We can't assume that casual passers-by will have familiarity even with the more established features of tskit.

I like it!! But I'll leave it to @petrelharp to decide, since he'd have to do some annoying latex wrangling to display it properly 😆

Sorry to hear he's unwell. Send him our best wishes. We came to the conclusion that "iterating over trees" had been rather done to death already in previous tskit presentations / posters. The "notable new features" is meant to be targeted at existing tskit users (or those for whom keywords might be a hook into the tskit ecosystem).
makes sense!
Hi @petrelharp - we chatted about the tskit poster in our lab meeting just now. How is this for a rough layout, mostly the same as your proposal, only "Exploring/iterating over trees" is swapped for "notable new features", and "input/output and metadata" is simply "metadata" (Jerome is happy to do this: we've marked down some contributors for each box too)
perhaps 3D trees & code, and/or collapsed trees
