I think more details are needed as to what the current limitation is for anybody to look into making fixes for this. What do you get when you try and run it from SSH terminal on your NAS?
I have a Synology NAS and purely based on its processor I haven't even considered doing this by the way but there are many faster versions than mine but it would take so long. Instead I have a Raspberry PI to the transcoding grunt.
