Recent research on ageing error. (This has been submitted.) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FGhaTzJ8ASPSacmExytJjrjYPe96kU12/edit
Owen says consider it as a sensitivity, not necessarily in base model (paper is not yet published and the sample sizes for the reference cases are small).
Options are either apply the general bias across the board for all readers or apply the bias to the reference (for us its Betty right?) in the ageing error matrix which Im guessing then gets applied to all the other readers. Can then apply either option with bias that linearly declines for young fish.
Patrick provided double read information on April 26. For base assumptions can use this to update any aging error matrices for reader bias.
Historical work done in 2007 by Steward and Piner. Reference case was halibut so probably not as helpful
@shcaba has done some work on ageing error and @andi-stephens-NOAA and Owen presented information applying some methods to calculate ageing bias at age for black and canary. Owen and Andi found an underaging bias around 10-14%. We had a team meeting on this on 12/21, and will likely need to familiarize ourselves with these analyses or ask someone who does to help.
The ageing error package is in pfmc-assessments
