I'll have a discussion about this and get back to you later.
Bit.ly is mostly used to spread malware and phishing campaigns. The problem with link shortener services is that you cannot see the original url and this poses a security thread.
I would always recommend to never directly open such links and run them through urlscan first.
As much as I agree with @ph00lt0, I don't want to degrade the general user experience. Unfortunately, many websites and email newsletters rely on bit.ly. This would equal to additional painful steps for the user to bypass our restriction. I am afraid that they would simply remove our block list or connect it to bad UX.
This makes me consider splitting the blocklist into sections - one with and without blocking url shorteners.
It's delisted @urgali. Sorry for the delay. But please be careful opening such links.
I thought you would do it @JanOstrowka?
Tool used (pick one):
What service are you trying to use?' Links using bit.ly link shortening
What does not work? For example opening links from telegram channels using bit.ly as shortener service
Which rule you believe is causing this? 0.0.0.0 bit.ly
