[3.4] Pages "Environments - Phalcon Compose (Docker) / Phalcon Box (Vagrant)" redirect to Nanobox instructions #39

Closed Revisor closed 9 months ago

Revisor commented 5 years ago

Hello, in docs for the version 3.4, the pages Environments - Phalcon Compose (Docker) and Environments - Phalcon Box (Vagrant)

both redirect to the page Environments - Nanobox

In docs for the version 4.0, the redirecting pages are not even there, so I presume it is connected to their removal from 3.4.

I suggest either reinstating the pages (preferrable for me as I wanted to install Phalcon via Docker) or removing them from the navigation.

Thank you.

@Revisor We removed those pages because the underlying components (phalcon/docker and vagrant boxes) no longer exist.

I am talking to the team to see how we can help with that. There is of course an effort to reintroduce docker with better images for all distros but that will be for v4.

@ruudboon Do you have any docker images in your repos that we can use in the meantime?

Revisor commented 5 years ago

I see, thank you for the quick reply. In that case I'll try Phalcon via Devilbox http://devilbox.org/

Or any other preferred way?

niden commented 5 years ago

As far as docker is concerned I don't have any suggestions. I am sure that @ruudboon has some repos that can share.

Alternatively the installation document offers options on how to install (packagecloud, from source etc.).

For v4 we also have packages in packagecloud and you can use the main repo (v4 branch) to build from source.

I never heard of devilbox so if that helps you by all means!

From what I briefly read, devilbox is similar to nanobox. You can use that also if it helps you.

@Revisor @niden I got some stuff on my github and gitlab. Don’t have the links here but will share them tomorrow.

Closing this. Official docker images are in the roadmap.
