The mass assembler seems to have a memory leak, or a similar issue, where over time, the presence of the mass assembler on an AE2 network completely shuts down any autocrafting, where all crafts get stuck at "scheduled". This issue tends to fix itself in a few hours, which makes me think it's a memory leak of some sort, that gets fixed by some eventual trash collection event. And this issue seems to be fixed after switching back to molecular assemblers and interfaces, which seems to point in the mass assembler's direction in terms of it being the cause.

Recreation of this issue:
Create an AE2 network with autocrafting and a mass assembler.
Autocraft a lot of items. Thousands of final products, made of millions of ingredient items.
Done. Autocrafting no longer works on this AE2 network, for a few hours.
I'd say I'm 80% sure that I'm correct here. But maybe I'm wrong, and I'm hoping the developer is willing to figure this out for me.
