The standalone WSPR function also produces splatter when the symbol changes. I wonder if the phase is reset when shifting frequency? It probably isn't noticeable when received from a distance.
See screenshot of the USB audio received from my SDR when transmitting WSPR. It looks like there might be a phase shift right before the symbol changes which could be causing splatter. I thought both WSPR and FT8 don't use phase changes (only frequency changes) so not sure what is going on.

I tested FT8 and it works. However, there have been some issues where a wider pulse appears every time the symbol switches, which can contaminate the spectrum.
