I'm running the script on a laptop running kubuntu 11.04 amd64. I'm running

It is my understanding that KDE's bash syntax is slightly different than that
of Gnome. For the moment my script is being developed for Gnome. I am already
working to get rid of all the xterm's in my script, which is one step closer to
being able to run on KDE.

KDE is the issue, I had that issue and I had to re-download BT5r1 with GNOME.
