Non-morphological data in Phenoscape #7

I would like to see more non-morphological data in Phenoscape. That can be accomplished through ingest from other structured sources, like EOL TraitBank, or through text mining. There will likely have to be work done on ontology development before hand and some thinking about how non-morphological traits should be represented.

This sounds cool! What sort of non-morphological traits are you thinking of? I've been meaning to play around with Wikidata, so I'd be curious to see if they have some relevant data we could import.

diatomsRcool commented 6 years ago

life history characteristics, habitats, etc.

Traitbank (http://eol.org/data_search) has some non-morphological data from a bunch of different sources (http://eol.org/traitbank). Ah, sorry didn"t see it was mentioned in the first post.

I'm particularly interested in seeing behavioral data in Phenoscape, and would like to explore how this might be (internally and/or externally to Phenoscape) correlated with relevant morphology, environmental conditions (see #17), and function.

Oh, that's good. There is a behavior ontology.....

I would like to echo that the addition of life history characteristics would be of great use.
