Jaws may stop reading description #148

I've noticed something odd sometimes when using Jaws. Sometimes, when I first start reading through a scene description, it will stop reading and I'll need to do something like hit tab or refresh the page to get it to start again. It isn't consistent and I seem to be the only one to run in to it, so I may just be bad at using Jaws.
Specific steps (generally):

  1. Go to the sim page
  2. Turn on Jaws
  3. Refresh the sim page
  4. Use arrows to start reading description

If the bug occurs, it usually happens relatively quickly, within the first section.

@KatieWoe can you please comment on when this started happening? Is this new or has this always happened (sometimes) with JAWS?

It isn't new. It's not consistent so I can't say for sure when it started, but it's been for awhile, possibly since I've been here.

Hard to tell since a lot of things I "found" at first were me not knowing how to use the screen readers.

That makes sense, thanks. I only ask because that helps determine whether or not this started happening after recent changes.

I have noticed something that may be similar in VO. I often use Control Option B to start read from the top, and it seems to vary from sim to sim where VO decides to stop reading. I haven't figured out if there is a common place that VO tends to stop reading automatically.

For me (from memory - would have to retest) I have a feeling VO stops reading on the first interactive object. But this is a suspicion. I would have to do a careful comparative test on a few sims. I don't have to refresh - only start using the arrow keys.
