I am closing this issue, as we have a solution for Balloons and Static Electricity, we are using a dashed line to differentiate between the grabbed and un-grabbed state of the balloon. And we have a completed interaction hint to grab, move and release the balloon.
In the future we can look to this example for similar or more complex interaction states.
We may need to discuss in more detail how to best communicate the visual difference between the focused and grabbed states during keyboard interaction.
Though this issue is directly relevant to Balloons and Static Electricity I'm putting this issue here as the discussion and decisions will help us with other sims which have focused and grabbed states.
