Home Screen selected icon - highlighting inconsistent #71

Closed emily-phet closed 10 years ago

emily-phet commented 10 years ago

Test device: Macbook Air (Emily's)

Operating System: Mac OSX 10.6.8

Browser: Safari Version 5.1.10 (6534.59.10)

Problem description: When hovering mouse over selected icon, the highlight box around the icon disappears - essentially acting in the opposite way it should. Mouse on icon makes highlight box disappear, moving farther away makes highlight appear.

Steps to reproduce: Load sim, hover mouse over selected (large) icon. Highlight will disappear.

Severity: I don't think it should stop publication.

Safari 5 is not a supported platform. On Mac OS 10.6, PhET supports only Chrome and Firefox. So unless this can be reproduced on a supported platform, I don't think we should spend time on it.

emily-phet commented 10 years ago

Thanks for the info. I thought that might be the case. I knew there was at least one browser that I can't update to a supported version since i still have OSX 10.6. I thought it was Firefox, but i guess it is Safari.

emily-phet commented 10 years ago

I commented in the issue about this, essentially I can't update to a supported Safari version since I'm still using OSX 10.6. (which is fine, I just will stop testing on Safari on my computer).

In the sim testing spreadsheet, or somewhere else, can we list what the actual version numbers are that need to be tested. Just saying the "latest" isn't that clear when some operating systems won't actually update to the latest.

Closing this issue, since it was reported on an unsupported platform.

In response to @emily-phet 's comment above, the test matrix does not list Safari as a platform to be tested on Mac OSX 10.6.

samreid commented 10 years ago

Seems like this problem should be tested on one of our supported OSX/Safari combinations just in case (or would that have been caught elsewhere in the testing matrix?)

jbphet commented 10 years ago

In response to previous comment, I tested this on my Macbook Air before closing the ticket, and the highlighting works fine. Details: OSX 10.8.4, Safari 6.0.5.

Thanks! Closing.
