Black preview screen / Sim not loading #12

Open kellywurtz opened 6 years ago

kellywurtz commented 6 years ago

Device: MacBook OS: OSX 10.10.5

On Mac Powerpoint application (version 16.16.4):

Problem On a few sims, the "preview" screen (i.e. what you first see after selecting a sim, with the "Insert" and "Cancel" options) appears completely black. In most cases, inserting the sim fixes this and you are able to use the sim, however, you then cannot choose to go back to the menu. There are different variations of this bug for the different sims, which are explained in more detail below.

Charges and Fields: Black preview screen. Fixed if inserted John Travoltage: Black preview screen, if inserted sim gets stuck on loading screen Molecule Shapes: Screens appear but when you click on one, the preview goes black. Fixed if inserted Molecule Shapes Basics: Screens appear but when you click on one, the preview goes blue. Fixed if inserted Neuron: Preview only shows neuron graphic, all other elements don't show up, fixed if inserted

Note: None of this occurs on Powerpoint Online, just on the Mac app.

Steps to Reproduce

@kellywurtz and I are both using Powerpoint 16.16.4.

I took a chance that it would also break on macOS 10.13.6, but it works just fine on my OS. I do not have access to 10.10.5 or any other OS. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Updated my OS to 10.14.1 and both these issues I created went away. My ancient operating system seems to have been the root cause.

@ariel-phet - Should this still be addressed?

ariel-phet commented 5 years ago

I am thinking since it is not an issue on newer OS, needs not be addressed.

Marking as wontfix but leaving open since we might want to make a mention about using a certain OS or newer in a video
