Minimum pulse of 0.05 is still too low for low tension

Sometimes a pulse won't even appear, although you can see the rod/first bead move when in slow motion (the discrete timestep model runs slower).

We can try doubling the resolution of the model and running it twice as fast, and it may fix many issues.
