This no longer seems to be a limitation of Lightroom, as long as you do one of two things: A) Enforce a rule that an album (collection) can not contain both subalbums and photos. B) Create a virtual "Photos" album for any album (collection) that also contains subalbums.
I'm not sure which the best choice is, though I lean towards (B).
thanks I actually found a way to do it ... but will require some programming that I will not start until I get a stable release.. I already did a complete API rewrite do this is the next step
I noticed the rewrite - you've put a lot of work into it. I've edited the google code page on it to point to here, as you're putting a lot more energy into the project than I have grin.
How are you planning to implement it?
Yea...I really like the project .. since I use Zenphoto and lightroom exclusively for my work-flow and I know LUA, PHP and the Lightroom API. So I started making changes and fixing stuff and just decided to fork it, I am a bit dedicated to the project. I do appreciate you linking others to this fork it means a lot.
As for the implementation I notice that you can make Collections Sets so any album that has subfolders will automatically be created under a "set" that will be named as the parent then the parent and subfolders will be stored in there. Only thing that is that a Collection Set can store images but that is ok if I am able to organize subfolders.
This is what I have in mind for Parent/Subfolder support. Only issue is I will have to make a "Collection Set" for each parent and then put the parent folder in it + any sub-folders it may have.
OR only make a Collection Set for Parents with subfolders.
Beta test of the idea
New Album is the parent
Limitation of lightroom but will work on some type of visual representation if possible
