Bug: single eye stretched to both eyes due to Windows #24

This is a bug that we discussed before, just wanted to give it its own thread, since it got buried.

Some videos that are side by side start out in this weird 3D mode. The same thing happens in VLC, but not in Media Player Classic. If I run those files in MPC, they will show the two eye views side by side normally. In VLC, those specific files will only display a single 2D view, rendered from, I guess, the left eye. The same thing happens in Whirligig: there's a single 2D view, that gets stretched across both eyes. So it's like you have the left eye stretched across both eyes in Whirligig. I bring up VLC because it looks like you're perhaps using the same library, and that might be the reason for the issue. I think this only happens under Media Foundation, but not sure.

Your response was: The Stereo issue is a Windows thing. It's actually a problem I've tried to find a work round for but not managed to. What is happening is that the video has something in the file that say's it's 3D. Windows for some reason takes over the playback and forces a 2D video or something weird like that. It's being worked on by AVpro who make the video plugin and hopefully when they release there new version there will be a fix.

Phil's response:

Just to respond. It's still being worked on by AVPro. They are currently working on an rebuild to there plugin AVPro which should include this fix. As it's a complete rebuild of there plugin though it's taking a very long time. Once they've released it I'll be looking to update the plugin (this might take a while depending on what they've done) hopefully that should fix the problem :)

Haven't been able to reproduce it recently, possibly due to this workaround: https://steamcommunity.com/app/451650/discussions/0/1864993755183477551/
