Running at phone startup #19

The previous version of the app (and this version?) is set to run at phone startup. This is slowing startup of phone and slowing running of phone. I have been getting messages popping up on screen telling me that the app is causing the phone to run slow and asking me to uninstall it. I can't turn off the 'run at startup' as there is no option to do this when I download and install the app. (This is the same on 'an app about horses' I think.

I will create an option to turn off the app - should be ready later today.

The latest version now lets you do a downward swipe to exit the app. Please try it?

Can't we stop them from running at startup? I can see this causing issues for a lot of users. Especially if they have a set of apps.

Swiping down on your latest version allows me to exit the app in the same way as pressing the 'home' button on my phone but I don't think this shuts the app down does it. I think I'm shutting it down when I bring up all the thumbnails of screens/apps that are open and I click the cross in the top right of the thumbnail to shut it. Is that right or is the app still running in the background?

The latest version shuts down more aggressively. Please let me know what happens when you try it?

It’s still not shutting down completely as far as I can tell. The thumbnail still appears when I press to bring them up and I have to click on the ‘X’ to shut it. Maybe that’s something about how my phone works but it will cause battery drainage problems for those who don’t know how to do a double shut down.

I am not convinced that it will drain your battery as Android should hibernate the app so that it is not using any energy as you are no longer using it. Unless it continues to play music or speak to you even when not visible on the screen?

Ok, let’s see how that goes. It has said a few words after shut down but I’ll monitor that again now.
