Oracle ElePHPant background #124

Some trivia about the Oracle elePHPants.

Oracle ordered 500 small "Oracle" elePHPants from Damien Seqguy in December 2018. There was some shipping damage to boxes and 496 arrived at Oracle HQ in a few batches in February and March 2018. These were given out at conferences, notably PHP Quebec and php|tek. Others went to user groups.

At the same time, Damien Seguy created 14 large "Oracle" elePHPants: "They came as a mixup in the order for the small elePHPant version". Oracle bought 7 and I bought 1. These were used as conference prizes.

And you know where there's a spare small one right? 😋

cookieguru commented 4 years ago

However it would be interesting to track the total quantities produced of each breed. Not sure if this would live in the UI or just in the json feed

I know where a spare big one is... For some definition of "spare".

Hi all :)

Oracle elephpant, also wrongly named "the red", are from 2008, and they are the second generation of elephpant.

This is one of the hardest to find elephpant. I do have one left from that era, small size.

As for quantities, some organisation are not keen to display how many they bought/produced, so it is quite difficult to gather.
