GBCC on F-Droid? #4

Hi @philj56

I really enjoy using GBCC. I wanted to ask, if you are interested in having GBCC added to the F-Droid Free and Open Source Android App Repository?

I can offer to open a Request For Packaging in their GitLab.

F-Droid compiles apps from source code, that is hosted in Git repositories, and hosts and distributes the resulting binaries. I am distributing my apps via F-Droid, too. That turned out to be a good decision for me, because F-Droid has a competent, active and friendly community.

Cheers and keep up the good work :-)

Hey, yeah that was the plan eventually - I just never got round to sorting it out.

I'd always meant to implement multiplayer over local wifi or similar, implement a consistent save state format (like that used by Sameboy), and then remove the early access tag on the play store and put it up on F-droid. I currently have more time than I used to, so maybe it's finally time to sort this out :)

Hi @philj56

I have been playing a Pokemon game using GBCC from start to finish on my phone (= I spent A LOT of time using the app). GBCC worked flawlessly for me. I understand you feel that the app is not finished, but I wanted to give you the feedback that for me it did not feel like an early access app.

But:

implement a consistent save state format

I did not think about it. But that seems to be an important feature, now thinking about it.

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah the main reason for early access is the save state format - currently, if I update the core emulator much, the savestates (but not rom saves) can break, so I didn't want too many people to use it before I fix that
