UI - Blank screen for ~5 seconds between splash & loading #28

On the original iPhone over wifi, I see the splash screen, then a blank screen, then the loading "spinner". The white screen is a bit confusing. Wondering if there's a way to mitigate that somehow? Even a green background to match the splash screen would help...

Thoughts?

It's the (seemingly) blank index.html that does it. It can be styled to make it green:
