It seems like I will have to add an authentication module to http server that comes with shiny server myself. There are all kinds of other hacks out there, but they will ultimately not be good enough.

There are nginx and node.js options for doing it, but the set up will be hard for me since I do not have the right experience.

We will have to use unauthenticated apps until we either get an enterprise version of shiny or intuitics is stable enough to allow us to replace shiny.
