GNOME Shell 3.4 support? #9

Hi,

Any chance for GNOME Shell 3.4 support? It turned out both my wok machine (Debian 7) and my personal machine (Trisquel 6) have GNOME Shell 3.4. All I can do is access the settings with gnome-shell-extension-prefs and enable or disable the extension with gnome-shell-extension-tool.

Life with GNOME (S)hell and Gajim is unbearable. Should I look for another solution or there is hope to have proper notifications with this extension and 3.4? I'm willing to help as much as I can for such support.

Thanks!

I think some of the early tagged releases were working fine in GNOME 3.4. Can you give it a try?

Hi,

All tags (git tag) have shell-version in metadata.json set to 3.6. The version in master is 3.8. Event the initial commit has version 3.6.

I've tried to set it to 3.4, but nothing changed.

The gnome-shell-extension-tool reports the extension as enabled when I used the -e option, the the GNOME Shell looking glass (Alt+F2 -> lg) reports the extension as off. There are no error logs either in the looking glass or in the GNOME Shell logs while ran from a terminal.

It seems to me it might be a lost cause.

Hi, I found out a work-around. I'll share it if someone else is looking for a solution.

I discovered that the Triggers plugin for Gajim can be used to setup the notification system. It looks promising.

You can close the ticket if you consider it is not a major bug.
