One user suggested the bell could watch the google calendar and silence itself 
during meetings.

IMHO this shouldn't be implemented for two reasons: (1) would need more (really 
private) access rights that probably a lot of users would not grant and (2) how 
should calendar entries be marked to silence the bell, I think not all entries 
should do that?
