Trying to record as gif. Saw issue #287 and made sure gstreamer-plugins-ugly was installed (versions is : gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly_1.14.1-1~ubuntu18.04.1_amd64.deb) #443

Details:

Could not start recording, already an active recording using org.gnome.Shell.Screencast?

Please take a look at the logging output in journalctl, GNOME shell should log details about the error. Without this it is impossible to tell what is happening.

Same issue trying to record GIF, here is my journalctl output:

Seems to be from a recent update, but I haven't used it in a while.

I also tried installing -bad and that didn't seem to help.

You might need to restart gnome-shell. Please see the FAQs and https://github.com/phw/peek/issues/267
