Casey Trimm 8 months ago Create a method in which someone can compare two clades and see their lineage traced back to their most recent ancestor.

Stephen Owen 8 months ago Would this include variations, such as highlighting a a line, say, from root to homo sapiens, or highlighting a clade or all carnivores or orchids?

If so, we should change this title to, 'Line tracing facility'

If not, such things need looking at too, as does selecting specific groups or organisms which are unrelated or in varied places on the tree, such as venomous animals.

Emmanuel Proulx 3 months ago I think this is great. I think this could become a reporting tool where you provide a list of clades and it produces a custom diagram as the output. Exactly like this: https://phylot.biobyte.de/ Choose “example #1” and then click on “Visualize in iTOL” (They’re using SVG to produce the diagram.)

Might as well point out that Phylopic does this with an example. It might be interesting to have the option, when searching for a taxon, to have the path to it highlighted instead of going directly to it, provided people like taking the scenic route.
