Port Forwarding Issues? See it asked here but dont see an answer that fits me? #150

Can't get the ping on the pi app to work.

I've checked 10 different ways and all signs point to the ports being open. I've allowed in my firewall. I've allowed on my router.. I've tried behind a vpn after allowing it there and allowing UPnP.

I can't find what I'm missing? Go to CDM. Ports open.

Everything says ports open.

Nothing I try works on the Pi ping.

I'm sorry I have very little programming experience as I'm just starting out... And I'm not sure what that is other than fonts and colors from what I see? Not sure how that helps with port forwarding?

Looks like your ports are indeed open and forwarded correctly. After you flip the switch to turn the node on, what does your Troubleshooting page in the Pi Node app report?

currently no vpn. that returned the quickest rejection on the ping.

based on your troubleshooting page screenshot and the fact that ipfingerprints shows the ports are open, it appears that your node setup is in good shape -- you just have to leave it running in its current state until you are selected as a Node candidate. Once that happens, the consensus container will be pushed down to your PC. After that, the PortChecker container will automatically be unloaded in Docker and the consensus container will be started.

(You did not specify whether you were running the VPN or not when ipfingerprints reported the ports open. Essentially, you need to be running in whatever state your PC was in when ipfingerprints reported that the ports were open).

Alright thanks. That actually kind of makes sense to me.... Couldn't figure out where I went wrong.

No vpn during any of those ping tests.

I just did it with the vpn to see if they would open on the app and when it gave me an immediate "not open" as opposed to the "take 3 hours to report" that they aren't open... I opted to immediately give up on the VPN.

Thanks for your help.

I want someone to tell GITHUB. I closed my account and still get an email, which is evidence that my personal information has been leaked. I take it as a threat. I want someone to help me.

I'm sorry. I'm new here to github. I have no idea what that has to do with me or how to help you there?

@Yoshiaki-Hatada if you are able to post comments here, then you have definitely not deleted your Github account. Furthermore, every time you post a message in any message thread in Github, then you are actively subscribing to updates on that message thread -- Perhaps this is not translating properly -- Whenever someone else posts a message in a thread/channel where you have participated, you will receive a notification. So the more you post your complaints in random threads, the more message alerts you will receive.

I am sure that you do not mean to post nuisance messages here, but this is how it looks for us. We are ordinary users like you. This is not the right place to ask for help with Github. There is a contact link at the bottom of this page.
