ALSO SEE MY SITE! FOR UP TO THE MINUTE REPORTS ON THE PROGRESS OF THE INTEL
5100/5300...... we just recently figured out, if we get the 5100 working 100%,
it
will also be able to have the 5300 working also, using the same system, just a
little
kext editing needed, that's it. We'd do it for you , of course and try to make
everything automated and easy for all OS X users, newbie or pro.
http://emceesforum.com/core
Please visit site for EVERYTHING OSx86. Including details and updates on the
progress
of the intel 5100 kext/driver. Also ignore the domain name for now, only one I
had
left registered, lol.

********UPDATE ON THE STATUS OF DRIVER**********************
I have begun modifying the iwi4965 package installer and kext files, along with
network selector...... i got the card to detect as an ethernet card, need to
figure
out how to change that, lol. some progress though.
ok i just uploaded a newer test installer package.
make sure to delete the previous iwi4965.kext first. from your extensions
folder.
install, when its complete, DO NOT RESTART.
use kexthelper b7, open it , import the modified iwi4965.kext included in zip
Tick the advanced box, click kext permissions button on bottom left.
then install the kext by click easy install at top, dont forget to enter
password so
the button lights up blue.
DO NOT CLICK RESTART YET
Wait a minute or less, OS X should warn you it found a new network enterface,
click
apply.
As you'll see, it detects it as an ethernet card..... we need to fix this but
play
around with things and/or
the network selector, ive tried to turn card on but got nothing, neither with
scan.,
we're looking into this heavily.
this is a great step forward!

thanks for your response John. I appreciate it and look forward to talking some
more.
I on the other hand find it feasable as I can try and inject the intel 5100
firmware
written by Intel just like project c and iwidarwin have done. it's just a
matter or
re-working some things and the only reason im trying this out is because i lost
my
previous work which pisses me off as it was written from scratch and was on its
way
to a higher road =(
Original comment by lethaldo...@gmail.com

and the 4965 is as close to the 5100 as possible, i know the 5100 is the latest
n
greatest along with the 5300 err... rather were.... but anyhow i think there
might be
a way.... just maybe.... dunno though. were working on porting the linux
drivers for
both the 5100/5300 over to unix but its been proven stressful, time consuming
and
difficult.

It's great.
I have one question.
How can I use this kext for Intel 5150? I think, 5100 and 5150 are almous the
same,
aren't they? Maybe it's just one string in code...
Original comment by graf.she...@gmail.com

@ #38 / Graf
Just use windows or OSX86 Tools to find out your wireless cards ven and dev
numbers... the ven number is Intels number, which should be 8086, the dev will
be
different, for instance, the 5100 is 4232, you might be 4233, etc.
You'd have to modify the kext included in the .zip file and change 0x42328086
to
0x????8086 replace ?'s with your numbers. install package included in zip but
then
delete the iwi4965 out of your extensions folder. then install the kext YOU
MODIFIED
into your extensions directory.

I'm not too sure at this point. It's just a small step forward. Maybe you could
try
playing around with things..... not to sure what the next step is. Our next
step is
trying to make the firmware work.
