Touch screen issues #4

Pierre, Thanks again for sharing this great project. I have made two 3-D printed cases, the first was with PLA and the second I had done with resin printing. The PLA was not very precise, I had to sand a great deal to get the parts to fit. I just got back the resin print yesterday and it is amazing how precise these parts are. Everything fit great and it looks much better. I did have to paint the parts as the finished print was all in a dull white. I have got the software installed and mostly works and looks wonderful. I am having several issues with the touch screen capabilities. You mentioned there was some issued with Kivy not sure what is wrong but I seem to be having the most trouble using the Info Tab, it takes several trys before I can get any response. If you have any new updates or suggestions could you please post them. Thanks again, Danny

Hi Danny, First of all, thanks very much for your feedbacks ! It's really great to hear that your got the cases printed out nicely and I would love to see some shots of your resin out of curiousity. Please, accept my apologies in the delay replying to your issue : somehow it skipped on my mail stack :(. Indeed, there are some issues going on between Kivy's touch implementation and the compatibility of the Pimoroni screen. I'm still trying to work out a solution since this summer but unfortunatelly without much luck. As there doesn't seem to have any updated on kivy, I started reworking on another approach for the UI. I guess I won't have much choice but to move to a X-Server based approach to ensure of the compatibility of the hardware. As soon as the new update is out, I'll make sure to let you know ! Thanks again, Pierre-yves

I was glad to hear from you. I have just set this project to the side hoping I would see some new updates. Please let me know when you get them completed. I can use the interface now but it as you know is somewhat sketchy . I am enclosing two photos of the camera using the resin process. It was amazing how much greater detail it had and everything fit perfectly, a big change over the first one I had printed using ABS. With the ABS I spent hours sanding and had to reprint the front part since it was very thin on one side and it cracked when I tried to put in the screen holder. Thanks so much for all you work on this project, I look forward to seeing the update to the UI. If there is anything I could do to help you I would be glad to lend my time. Thanks again, Danny

Pierre-yves; Hope you are doing well in this pandemic. Have you made any recent updates to this project? Best wishes, Danny

Hi Danny, Doing good thank you. I hope you are keeping well yourself. Not much evolution so far due to hectic work but I saw that there has been a major release of the framework used, so the plan is to migrate the current project to it, hopping it would solve the issues. Also I started investigating new "boot" options for the camera to start up much faster. I'll make sure to keep you posted. In the meantime, take care! ;)
