Cannot play past 19.02 minutes #39

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Play a track that has more than 19.02 minutes with 2/4 times upsampling
2. Turn on memory play with 4GB and slide quality to max and it indicates 17
mins
3. Version is 8.03

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect to play past time limit through reading from disk as classical music has
many long tracks.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Audirvana is 8.03 and OSX 10.6.7 Macmini Aluminium Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz with
4GB memory

Please provide any additional information below.
Would upgrading to 8GB memory help or is there another workaround,
The memory play feature is great as it do really sound better. Problem does not
occur if I turn on memory play. There is not OSC panic and pressing stop on
Audirvana enables me to reload the next track.

It seems to be an issue with split loading.
You can see where are the split points by looking at the progress bar, it
starts by a first growing bar for the first buffer, then its color changes, and
the second buffer bar grows. They eventually disappear if the tracks fits
entirely in memory with both buffers.
What I want to know if the play pauses at the end of the first buffer, the
second ?

BTW, what is the file format ?

Thanks au.damie.
Found the code you wrote but not sure how to download and make the changes.
Apologies as I am not really computer trained to that extent.

Ok, I've just released 0.9.0 that includes the aforementioned changes.
You can just download it and try!

Hi Damien,
Have downloaded 0.0.9 and the problem but now it stops at 9:02 minutes instead
of 9:01 minutes previously. Have tried other tracks but problem still persists.
Bruckner Symphony 7 first movement, beethoven symphony 9 last movement.

Like previously, if I turn off upsamlping, it is OK. it seems to happen only to
44.1/16 files and tried with 96/24 files all also aiff and it was OK.

Perhaps I should up it to 8 GB memory instead of current 4GB memory?

Thanks. Cheers,,,, Pete

Hi Pete,
It should work. And I'll make it work.
Going to 8GB will of course help, because it will further increase the delay
between HD accesses.

BTW, which SRC algorithm are you using (Apple CoreAudio or LibSampleRate) ?

Cheers,
Damien

Thanks Damien,
Am using apple core audio. Audirvana is a great software and sounds a world of
difference from iTunes even without memory play.

Could it be due to the fact that I am using a Buffalo linkstation quad NAS to
store music as it has about 2.6 TB of music in it. Access speed is slower than
USB or internal even though the NAS is directly connected to Macmini via a
1000BaseT cross cable.

Thanks. Cheers,,,, Pete

It was a bug in the loader routines.
Fixed in r144.

Hi Damien,
I downloaded 0.9.1 and it has solved my problem on playing tracks
longer than 19.02 minutes. Even tried a 25 mins track and it worked
fine.

Thanks a lot for the help. Appreciate it.

I would be upgrading the memory of my Macmini Aluminum from 4GB to 8GB
as I play almost exclusively classical and it would reduce the disk
spin for longer tracks.

Cheers,,,, Pete
